WINIFRED M. BROWN

Winifred “Winnie” Marie Brown, the daughter of Clarence Sidney and Daisy Marie (Smead) Brown was born March 16, 1920 in Sheldon, Iowa. She received her education in schools in Sheldon. When Winnie started working she was first a waitress and later worked at Aalfs Manufacturing in Sheldon. For fifteen years she was a cottage counselor for Village Northwest in Sheldon, before her retirement. She was a lifelong resident of Sheldon spending her retirement years in the family home and later Autumn Park Apartments before moving to Fieldcrest Assisted living in Sheldon. In 2005 she became a resident of the Heartland Care Center in Marcus. She passed away at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 reaching the age of 88 years and 2 days.
She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon and the Mary Circle of the church. She was also a member of the Rebecca Lodge. Winnie enjoyed painting, quilting and growing plants.
Winnie is survived by her friends Sandy Wollmuth and Teresa Hoekstra and her caregivers and residents of the Heartland Care Center in Marcus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Elmer and Claude Brown and a brother in infancy.
