STEVEN V. LOUSCHER
Steven Victor Louscher, the son of Bertie and Gladys (Brumley) Louscher was born June 1, 1939 in Harris, Iowa. He moved with his family to Paullina and attended Paullina schools. He graduated from Paullina High School in 1957. He attended Morningside College in Sioux City for one year before joining the United States Navy and serving for two years. After his honorable discharge, he attended Iowa State University in Ames graduating in 1962. On August 20, 1960 he was united in marriage to his childhood sweetheart Karen Kummerfeldt at the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina, Iowa. The couple lived in Ames and after Steve graduated from Iowa State the couple returned to Paullina. Steve was in partnership with his dad and son at the Paullina Grain Company for many years retiring in 1996. The couples retirement years were spent in Paullina and summers at Lake Okoboji. He passed away on Thursday October 27, 2016 as a result of an accident near Paullina reaching the age of 77 years 4 months and 26 days.
The two things in life that were the dearest to Steve were his wife Karen and his family; and his faith in the Lord. He was active in the lives of his children and his grandchildren, going to countless sporting events and many other activities they were involved in. His faith was expressed every day by helping others and being a member of the Oakdale Evangelical Free Church. He also was a Stephens Minister.
Steve enjoyed flying, fishing, participating in Bible studies and mission work. He also loved golfing and training for and competing in triathlons. Steve and Karen enjoyed traveling together and spending time with family at Lake Okoboji.
Steve's memory will continue to be cherished by his wife of 56 years Karen of Paullina; four children Scott and his wife Melinda Louscher of Paullina, Terri Cullison of Paullina, Traci and her husband Ben Cox of Pella, Iowa, and Pamela and her husband Jeremy Benacka of Maple Grove, Minnesota; fourteen grandchildren; two brothers Bert and his wife Lorna Louscher of Ft. Myers, Florida and Mike and his wife Chris Louscher of Algona, Iowa; many loved ones and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bertie and Gladys and one sister Mary Sue.
