Steven Louis Gnade of Brick, New Jersey was born May 15, 1952 in Paterson, New Jersey and died suddenly on Friday, July 10, 2015. He was the son of Lambertus (Bert) Gnade Jr. and Louette (Behnke) Gnade. He attended both Washington and Jefferson grammar schools and Hawthorne High School before transferring to Brick High School in Brick, New Jersey, graduating in 1971.
He worked for his father in construction and ran Bricktown Oil before working at the Vannote Lumberyard in Brick. He spent time as a bartender at local restaurants in Brick and Pt. Pleasant. For a few years, he lived and worked in Paullina, Iowa as a refrigeration supervisor at a lamb processing plant. After returning to New Jersey, Steve worked for Trilco Lumber until he was hired by Home Depot in 1989. He was a valued employee of Home Depot and a dedicated driver with an exemplary driving record for J.B. Hunt Transport. His co-workers praised his excellent customer service, reliable and conscientious work ethic.
As a young man he was a member of the Jr. Caballeros drum and bugle corps and went to three national competitions in Texas, Florida and Oregon. His favorite activities were fishing and duck hunting. He collected stamps and coins from age 14.
Previously married and divorced to Deborah Gaida Mulvey and two children survive him, Steven Mulvey-Reyes and Nicole Simons, also two grandchildren, Nicholas and Jarrod Simons.
He leaves to mourn his sister, Carol (Dave) Platt, sister-in-law Jean Gnade all of Paullina, Iowa; nieces, nephews, family, friends, co-workers and friends at Laurelton Gardens.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jim Gnade.
His wishes were fulfilled that his body be donated to a school for education and teaching.
