RUBY L. KUMMERFELDT

Ruby L. Kummerfeldt, the daughter of James and Pearle Alderson was born September 30, 1914, in Bloomfield, Nebraska. She received her education in Moville, Iowa. On March 14, 1935, she was united in marriage to Lester Kummerfeldt in Elk Point, South Dakota. They moved to Germantown, Iowa in 1942. They owned and operated Kummerfeldt Service, a bulk gas plant. She passed away on May 25, 2007, reaching the age of 92 years, 7 months and 24 days.
Grandma was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina. Grandma’s love and faithfulness to the Lord was exemplified through her daily devotions and Bible reading. She was committed to and participated in adult Sunday School and Friendship Bible coffees throughout her life. Grandma enjoyed spending time with her family; traveling to watch her great-grandchildren play games, concerts, dance recitals…she was an ever-present support. She loved “girls weekend” which included Women of Faith, eating out, being together with much laughter and shopping in which she outlasted all of us. Grandma’s love of the game of golf and her bull’s-eye putter allowed her to prevail on the designated “pop hole”. Grandma was well versed with the players names, the teams and the rankings for the NBA, PGA, NFL and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Her favorite team was the Spurs, which she followed very closely, even in her final days she inquired if they were still in the playoffs. Grandma was an avid card player from the time owned the Station in Germantown to playing with “the Gang” in the mobile home park in Texas to playing cards with her family. Grandma thoroughly enjoyed watching movies in Germantown along with a generous crowd outside on the Station wall. Grandma certainly let her light shine for all to see and her love and devotion to the Lord is something that we as a family will aspire to continue on as a living legacy through our lives.
Ruby leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Karen and her husband, Steve Louscher of Paullina; her son, Jeffrey and his wife, Judy Kummerfeldt of Paullina; six grandchildren, Scott Louscher and his wife, Melinda; Terri Cullison; Traci Cox and her husband, Ben; Pam Benacka and her husband, Jeremy; Jeff Kummerfeldt Jr. and his wife, Janet; and Betty Jo Kummerfeldt; also seventeen great-grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester on May 8, 1993 and her parents.
