ROBERT W. SEIVERT


Robert William Seivert, the son of Louis C. and Elizabeth (Johannes) Seivert, was born on a farm near Ashton, Iowa on May 28, 1925. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Ashton. He served during World War II in the United States Army in the 94 Infantry; he received a Bronze Star; 2 Purple Hearts; an Expert Infantryman Badge, and European–African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal; a World War II Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. After the service he returned to Ashton. Bob was united in marriage to Edna Klunenberg on August 17, 1948 in Ashton. The couple made their home in Ashton where they raised their family. Bob drove truck for Hallett Construction in Ashton for several years and was a part-time mail carrier. In 1975, he retired and they moved to their lake home in Spirit Lake, Iowa and in 1993, they moved to Sheldon, Iowa. Bob passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2005, at the Prairie View Home in Sanborn, reaching the age of 80 years, 1 month and 23 days.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Sheldon, the Ashton Knight’s of Columbus and the American Legion; he was also a member of the Sibley Veterans Foreign Wars; the Sheldon Eagles Club and the Disabled American Veterans of Storm Lake, Iowa. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and wintering in Arizona. He loved having his grandchildren and great-grandchildren come for visits and he loved the Iowa Great Lakes.
Bob leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Edna of 56 years, of Sheldon; and their 5 children and their spouses, Kathryn and Gary Feuerstein of Sheldon, Iowa; Karen and Michael Richter of Orange City, Iowa; Kenneth and Janet Seivert of Sheldon, Iowa; Karla and Robert Imhoff of Ashton, Iowa; Kay and Steve Winkel of Ashton, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, Connie Vreeman; Rochelle Wesselink; Angela Lowry; Julie Ludwig; Brian Richter; Kristine Stoebner; Melanie Seivert; Steven Imhoff; Kimberly Imhoff; Rodney and Troy Winkel; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and their spouses, James and Peggy Seivert of Manson, Iowa; Walter and Carol Seivert of Ashton, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Amanda Beth Seivert; a sister, Inez Clare Seivert and a brother, Richard L. Seivert.
