Rita Marguerite Webb, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (LeVangie) LeVangie was born May 18, 1922 in Braintree, Massachusetts. She attended school at Braintree, Weymouth, and Quincy and was in the 1940 graduating class at Braintree High. She attended nursing school at Brookline, Massachusetts. She worked as an undergraduate at Burke Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Massachusetts. In February of 1944, she was united in marriage to William Webb in Quincy, Massachusetts. She worked at Friel Rest Home until moving to Iowa in 1948. The couple moved to Primghar, Iowa in 1952. While in Primghar she worked at Ward Memorial Hospital for eight years and then at Prairie View Retirement home for nineteen and a half years. She passed away at the Care Center on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 reaching the age of 88 years, 11 months and 16 days.
She was a member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Primghar, an active member of the guild-serving two terms as president, one of six ladies who started the Hospital Auxiliary-serving two terms as president and later becoming a life time member. Rita was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and also the V.F.W.. She was a Cub Scout leader and a Brownie leader for eight years; she was a Candy Stripe leader, and a hospice volunteer. Rita enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, quilting, knitting, doing crossword puzzles, and playing cards.
Rita is survived by her five children, William and his wife, Mary Webb of Colton, California; Beverly Ann Stofferan of Dodge City, Kansas; Brian and his wife, Sue Webb of Imperial, California; Beth and her husband, Steve Wittrock of Primghar and Bonna Webb of Dodge City, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Florence and her husband, Blaine Bacon of Largo, Florida and Lorraine DelPrete of Rockland, Massachusetts; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; a son, Bruce; a daughter, Darlene; two grandchildren, Michelle and William; five sisters, one brother and her parents.
