RAYMOND PUHRMANN

Raymond Puhrmann, the son of George and Emma (Beerman) Puhrmann Sr. was born January 3, 1915 on his parent’s farm in Baker Township of O’Brien County, Iowa. He received his education in a country school and later at Zion Lutheran School. On January 22, 1939, he was united in marriage to Alma Riebesell at her parent’s home near Calumet, Iowa. After their marriage the couple started farming northwest of Paullina, where they raised Registered Purebred Duroc Hogs and Register Polled Hereford Cattle. In 1969, they retired from farming and moved to Paullina. In 1972, they became janitors at the Presbyterian Church and later became janitors of Zion Lutheran Church and school.
He was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he was confirmed on June 1, 1930. He also served on the school board for Zion Lutheran School and held many offices in the church. He was also very involved with the construction of the present church facility. He enjoyed playing cards and family gatherings.
Ray leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Alma of Paullina; their children, Marlys Fear and her husband, Gaylon of Olds, Iowa; Larry Puhrmann and his wife, Cindy of Paullina; Norma Johnson and her husband, Dick of Storm Lake; Lorene Unrau and her husband, Denny of Spirit Lake; ten grandchildren, Alan Fear and wife, Missy; Kent Fear; Gloria Fear and Randy White; Lenny Puhrmann; Jeanna Click and husband, Darin; Krista Bruns and husband, Rich; Julie Grantham and husband, Bob; Amy Rolfes and husband, Jason; Gary Unrau and wife, Allison; Brent Unrau and wife, Amber; twenty great-grandchildren, Ray, Ben, Kaci, Brittney, Rachelle, Logan, Brady, Bryce, Hunter, Brody, Emma, Brianna, Jordan, Faith, Courtney, Madison, Danielle, Taylor, Tavian and Teagan, a great-great-grandchild, Kaylee; two brothers, Martin and his wife, Teddie Puhrmann; Ralph Puhrmann; two sisters, Emily Meyer and June and her husband, Clifford Miller; and a sister-in-law, Audrey Puhrmann; as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, George, Bently and Lee; three sisters, Elsie Miller, Gladys Muhs, Ruth Berhow; and a grandchild, Travis Snyder.
