PHYLLIS M. WISSINK

Phyllis Mae Wissink, the daughter of Otto H. and Teina (DeBoer) Rowenhorst, was born August 23, 1920 in Orange City, Iowa. She attended school in Newkirk and Northwestern Academy in Orange City. She then taught school in Sutherland, Sheldon and Everly. She was united in marriage to Laurence H. Wissink on August 21, 1943, in Everly, Iowa. After their marriage they lived in Rock Rapids and Sheldon. She was a teacher's aide for 21 years in the Sheldon School district. In 2002, the couple moved to Fieldcrest Assisted Living and in 2005, they moved to the Prairie View Retirement Home in Sanborn. Her husband preceded her in death on September 6, 2006 in Sheldon. Phyllis remained at the Prairie View Home and passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at the Sanford Health Center in Sheldon, reaching the age of 87 years, 4 months and 20 days.
She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon.
Left to cherish her memory, are three daughters, Mary Stegemann of Lakefield, Minnesota; Helen and her husband, Robert Schoon of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Susan Reimers of Boyden; two sons, Lee Wissink of Des Moines, Iowa and Jay and his wife, Donna Wissink of Dallas, Texas; thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons-in-law, a grandson, her parents and one sister.
