Peter Boer, age 90, of Sanborn, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Baum Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar, Iowa. Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at the Christian Reformed Church in Sanborn, Iowa. Rev. Al Van Dellen officiating. Burial to follow at Roseland Cemetery in Sanborn with Military Honors by Conaway Post 318, Sanborn, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday, November 10, from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon. Peter Boer was born on January 14, 1927 in Sanborn, Iowa. He was the son of John and Frances (Hoekstra) Boer. He lived his youth in Sanborn and Boyden, Iowa and attended Sanborn Christian Grade School. He was in the United States Army, served in post war Japan, and was honorably discharged. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Vis of Hull, Iowa on February 9, 1951 in Hull. They lived and farmed by Sanborn, Iowa. Kathleen passed away on December 21, 1997. Peter was a member of the Hartley Christian Reformed Church and later his membership was transferred to the Sanborn Christian Reformed Church. His life revolved around farming and his family. Peter was a very patient person and content with life. He passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Baum Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar, Iowa. Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Jeff (Elaine) Boer of Sheldon, IA, Marlys (Al) Schoenwetter of Springfield, MO, Kevin (Michele) Boer of Newkirk, IA; ten grandchildren, John (Kim) Boer, Amy (John) Emerick, Nathan Boer, Danny Boer, Stephanie (Bryan) Joiner, Kellie (Pat) McEnaney, Joe (Cathy) Schoenwetter, Kacie (Mark) Konkol, James (Becca) Boer, Matthew Boer; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Don (Lyla) Boer of Hull, IA; sister-in-law, Dorothy Schumacher of Zeeland, MI; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathleen Boer; son, Doug Boer; brother, Marten Boer; and two great-grandchildren.
