ORLYNN D. KOEHLMOOS
Orlynn DuWayne Koehlmoos, the son of Emil and Adele (Meyer) Koehlmoos was born on March 30, 1931 in rural Germantown, Iowa. He was baptized on April 19, 1931 and later confirmed on June 10, 1945 at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. He attended grade school at St. John Lutheran School and in 1949 he graduated from Paullina High School. On June 24, 1951, he was united in marriage to Betty Hattermann at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. Orlynn was drafted into the United States Army in November of 1952 during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in October of 1954. After returning home, the couple farmed until retiring in 1995 and then moved in to Paullina in 1996. He also worked for Crow’s Seed Corn and Archer Oil. He passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013 at the Orange City Area Hospital reaching the age of 81 years, 11 months and 4 days.
He was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church serving as Elder, Trustee, Secretary and Vice President. He enjoyed wood working and working with stain glass. Orlynn also loved playing cards, working on puzzles and spending time with his grandchildren.
Left to cherish Orlynn’s memory are his wife of 61 years, Betty Koehlmoos of Paullina, Iowa; three daughters and their husbands, Teresa and Kent Pauling of LeMars, Iowa; Kathy and Phil George of The Villages, Florida and Jean and Toby Waugh of Payson, Arizona; nine grandchildren, Laura (Anthony) Gaul, Kelli (Brad) Shidler, Nathan (Joni) Pauling, Bryan, Dan and Kerry George, Brandi (Shane) Hounshell, Kelsey and Michael Waugh; nine great grandchildren, Ali, Carson and Cy Gaul, Ella, Evan and Emery Shidler, Sophie and Cameron Pauling and Jaxon Hounshell; a sister, Vernice Rahbusch of Sutherland, Iowa; a brother, Dennis and his wife, Esther Koehlmoos of Paullina, Iowa, also other relatives and friends.
Orlynn was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, John Rahbusch.
