MYRLE G. BRUNDAGE

Myrle Grace Brundage, the daughter of Fred and Clara (Moore) Waund, was born January 3, 1910 in Primghar, Iowa. She received her education in Primghar Schools and business education in Des Moines, Iowa. On November 17, 1939, she was united in marriage to Burdette J. Brundage in Primghar, Iowa. They lived in Primghar until Burdette’s death on April 2, 1998.
She enjoyed being a homemaker and mother. She helped in her husband’s store, Burdette’s Market, which they owned for 18 years, she waited on trade, stocking shelves and even delivering groceries. Myrle was a wonderful cook and made beautiful birthday cakes for her family. She enjoyed crocheting and made afghans for family members. Her green thumb was seen in the large gardens she would plant and tend. The produce from her garden was enjoyed by family, friends and neighbors and her family benefited from the canned, frozen, and pickled produce all year.
She and Burdette spent time in Colorado and Missouri with family, even taking care of their daughter’s pets and home while they vacationed. She was an active member of the Church of Christ in Primghar. After her husband’s death she shared her time between her two daughters until her move into a care facility in Springfield, Missouri in March of 2001. She made many friends in her environment and her quick wit delighted those who cared for her. She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was known to her grandchildren as “G.G.”
Myrle passed away on Monday, February 4, 2008 at the Maranatha Village where she made her home reaching the age of 98 years, 1 month and 1 day.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Brenda and her husband, Maurice Cummings of Springfield, Missouri; Wanda and her husband, Randy Reed of Grand Junction, Colorado; three grandchildren, Brendon and wife, Kim Cummings, Morgen and husband, Gareth Parks and Cody Reed; three great grandchildren, Cassidy Cummings, Paige Cummings and Landon Cummings; three nieces, Ramona White, Paula and husband, George Williams, Carolyn Waund; a nephew, Allen and wife, Keiko Postel; and other relatives and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burdette; twin sons, Brian and Burdell; her parents, brother, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and a nephew.
