MERLES E. BUSCH

Merles Edna Busch, the daughter of Christ and Louise (Whitrock) Ebel was born August 30, 1927 in Truman, Minnesota. She moved with her family to the Germantown, Iowa area in 1928 and received her education in St. John Lutheran School in Germantown and later moved to Paullina in 1938. She then went to Zion Lutheran School in Paullina. Later, she attended Paullina High School until the family moved to Mankato, Minnesota. On October 13, 1946, she was united in marriage to Glenn Busch at the Presbyterian Church in Paullina. After their marriage they spent their entire married life in Paullina. The couple operated Glenn’s Grocery from 1950 until 1963 and after that she was employed at other stores in Paullina. She went to work at the South O’Brien School, where she was a custodian for 21 years before she retired. Her husband preceded her in death on February 27, 1977 at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She remained in the family home until going to the Paullina Care Center a couple of weeks ago. She passed away at the care center on Friday August 31, 2007 reaching the age of 80 years and 1 day.
She was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Truman, Minnesota and later confirmed on May 24, 1942 at Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. Hartmeister. She was currently a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina. She enjoyed getting together with her friends.
Merles leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Carmen and her husband, Dan Waggoner of Sutherland; a grandson, Kevin and his wife, Jennifer Kruse of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; a great granddaughter, Maysa Grayce Kruse; a sister-in-law, Pearl Ebel and a brother-in-law, Harry Brown both of Mankato, Minnesota; also other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Terry Busch on March 14, 2004 in LaSalle, Minnesota; her parents, three sisters, Nora, Della and Esther; and two brothers, Melvin and Roy.
