Maxine Max Lorene (Struve) Busch
Maxine Max Lorene (Struve) Busch was born on January 30, 1925 to Daniel and Elsie (Nielsen) Struve, Sr. at her Nielsen grandparents home in Paullina, Iowa. She was raised on the Struve farm NE of Paullina, along with her parents and brother, Dan Struve Jr. She was baptized in 1925 and confirmed in 1941 at the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina. She attended Dale #5 country school and graduated from Paullina High School in 1943. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) in Cedar Falls. She taught school at Baker #7 country school for 2 years. She worked as a clerk at Gaudian Furniture Store for 3 years. She later was employed as a bank teller for over 27 years at First National Bank in Paullina until her retirement. She also worked as an OBrien County election worker for over 20 years. She was involved in the 100th and 125th celebrations in Paullina.
She met her future husband New Years Eve in 1945 at a dance in Hartley, Iowa. They were married September 1, 1946 at the Struve family farm rural Paullina. They had four children Janice, Barbara, Peggy and Michael. Max and Al were married for 51 years until Allens sudden death in 1997. They enjoyed traveling to Nashville, the Bahamas and Florida. After retiring, Maxine especially enjoyed the yearly Busch family vacations to see baseball games with the Twins, Cubs, Rockies, Royals, I-Cubs and Omaha Royals and the ISU/Iowa football and basketball games. She always loved any gathering that involved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Maxine was a very active member at First Presbyterian Church in Paullina. She was involved in the womens church groups and was treasurer of Presbyterian womens group for many years. She enjoyed reading and going to the Paullina Library. She especially loved playing her weekly card game with her bridge group the past 15 years. Maxine moved to Prairie View in Sanborn, Iowa in November 2014 to the assisted living wing and then about a year ago moved to the care center wing.
Left to cherish Maxines memory is her four children, Jan and Larry Feldotto of Paullina, Barb Busch-Mott and Dan Mott of Cherokee, Iowa, Peg Spaan of Onawa, Iowa and Mike Busch of Waucoma, Iowa; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Corrie and Gayle Feldotto and their children Cayden and Cooper and Brett Ferry, step-grandson all of Urbandale, Iowa, Chad Feldotto of Aurora, Illinois, Joel and Candice Spaan, Clara and Max of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Kelly Spaan and special friend Michael Belling of Omaha, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Jean Struve of Paullina, Iowa, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Elsie Struve Sr., husband, Allen, in 1997; son-in-law, Dike Spaan in 2003 and brother, Dan Struve, Jr. in 2012.
