MARIAN KRAMER JACOBSON


Marian Kramer Jacobson was born to William and Nellie (Benner) Kramer on August 5, 1916 on a farm near Slayton, MN. She passed away on November 9, 2012 in Fresno, CA. She received her elementary and junior high education in the Worthington, MN public schools. Her family moved to Paullina in 1931 where she graduated from Paullina High School in 1934. After graduation, she was employed in the office of the Paullina Times for seven years. In December of 1939, she was married to Kermit Jacobson at the Grace Methodist Church in Paullina by the Reverend J. M. Howedeshell. The couple made their home in Paullina for their entire married life. They became the parents of three children; Sally, Steven, and Randy. Marian was primarily a homemaker during her married life. In later years, she assisted Marjorie McCauley at her dress shop in Paullina. She was also employed as an aide in the Paullina Public Schools and was an assistant to the secretary of the school board. After retirement, Kermit and Marian spent three winters in California with relatives. In 1980, they went to Mesa, AZ and wintered together there until Kermit’s death in 1987. Marian continued to spend her winters in Arizona, finally moving there permanently in 1994. She moved to Fresno, CA in October of 2005 to be closer to family.
She is survived by her daughter, Sally (Michael) Ford of Las Vegas, NV, and her son, Randy (Connie) of Fresno, CA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Anne (Ford) Hawla (Mike) of Las Vegas; James (Diane) Ford of Snowmass, CO; Nicholas (Lisa) Jacobson of Fresno; Adam Jacobson of San Diego, CA; Carrie (Rudy) Diligencia of Duvall, WA; Keith Jacobson and Craig Jacobson of Seattle, WA. In addition are three great-grandchildren, Alex Hawla of Las Vegas; Diesel Diligencia of Duval and Charlotte Jacobson of Fresno. She is also survived by her special niece, Roma Lee Hardman of Prior Lake, MN.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Kermit; a son, Steven; her parents, five brothers and three sisters.
