MARIAN A. HONKOMP

Marian Adeline Honkomp, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Jungers) McGrath was born April 8, 1924 in Hospers, Iowa. She received her education in Sheldon and graduating from Sheldon High School, she also attended Sheldon Junior College. Marian was united in marriage to Vernon Honkomp on November 8, 1945 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sheldon. They made their home on a farm south of Sheldon, where she helped him with the farm work. Vernon preceded her in death on July 26, 1972 in Sheldon, Iowa. Marian continued farming and raising her lambs until she retired and remained on the home place until she passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota reaching the age of 87 years, 5 months and 27 days.
She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheldon and of the Ladies Guild. She was an avid knitter and seamstress, she crocheted and wove and she also enjoyed reading.
Marian leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Cheryl Gilbert of Chebanse, Illinois; two grandchildren, Justin Fletcher of Chebanse, Illinois and Lisa Hartin-Pasco and her husband, Daniel of Seattle, Washington; three grandchildren, Isaac, Samuel and Eleanor Hartin-Pasco; a sister and her husband, Luella and Leonard Streit of Sibley, Iowa and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; her parents and a sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Donald Poss.
