MARGARET TIEDEMAN
Margaret Wessels Tiedeman passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Sanford Sheldon Health Center in Sheldon, Iowa reaching the age of 93 years, 4 months and 25 days. Margaret was born on October 31, 1920 at Ashton, Iowa to Herman and Maggie Wessels. She was raised on a farm in the Ritter/Ashton Iowa area where she attended country school and grew up with two sisters and three brothers. On June 26, 1946, Margaret married Hubert H. Tiedeman at the First Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN by Rev Carl Moberg. They made their home on a farm north of Hull, Iowa for 53 years where they enjoyed working together, cleaning the groves, taking down many trees, raising chickens, hogs and cattle. Her hobbies were gardening, fishing and reading.
Margaret always thought of others first. She sent cards and wrote letters to many friends and family. All of those who came to visit her never left her house hungry (and if you did it was your fault). On January 7, 1973, they moved to Sheldon. The couple continued to attend the St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Hull, Iowa where they were long time members. Hubert preceded Margaret in death on November 22, 2004 in Sheldon. She continued to make her home in Sheldon and moved to the Sanford Senior Care in September of 2011. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her love and joy.
Left to cherish her memory are three children, Roger and Linda Tiedeman of Sheldon, Iowa; Douglas and Audrey Tiedeman of DeSoto, Kansas and Debra Potts of Denison, Iowa; grandchildren, Terry and Rachelle Sump of Pocahontas, Iowa; Matt and Rebecca Sharpe of Frankfort, Illinois; Rick and Pamela Tiedeman of Hull, Iowa; Stacie Thies and Cory and Michele Tiedeman of DeSoto, Kansas and Kirk Tiedeman of Kansas City, Kansas; Bill and Jessica Potts of Indianola, Iowa and Nick and Ashley Potts of Des Moines, Iowa; fifteen great grandchildren, also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert; a son-in-law, Dennis Potts; her parents, Herman and Maggie Wessels; two sisters, three brothers and many relatives and friends.
