LUELLA IDA JAGER

Luella Ida Jager, the daughter of Andrew Sr. and Grace (Dreesen) Kanengieter was born March 5, 1923 on a farm near Little Rock, Iowa. She received her education in Little Rock. Luella was united in marriage to Elmer Jager on September 25, 1943 in her parents home in Little Rock. The couple made their home in Little Rock and then near George before Elmer was called to serve his country during World War II. After the service he returned to the George area to farm. In 1959, they moved to a farm east of Ritter, Iowa where they farmed until moving into Sheldon in the mid 1980s. In June of 2011, they moved to Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon. Elmer preceded her in death on September 28, 2011. Luella remained at Fieldcrest until she passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016 at the Sanford Sheldon Health Center in Sheldon, reaching the age of 93 years, 2 months and 3 days.
She was a member of the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, Iowa. She enjoyed helping Elmer on the farm; singing, playing with the grandkids and she also enjoyed wintering in Texas for 20 years.
Luella leaves to cherish her 3 sons and their spouses, Edgar and Shirley Jager of Sheldon; Gary and Glenda Jager of George; Robert and Peggy Jager of Ashton, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; 6 brothers and sisters, Grace Willemssen of Sioux Center, IA; Andrew and his wife, Muriel Kanengieter of Sheldon, IA; Elmer Kanengieter of Sibley, IA; Arlene and her husband, Don Rickabough of Sioux Falls, SD; Erma Winter of Sibley, IA; Everon and his wife, Joyce Kanengieter of Little Rock, IA; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; a son, Roger; her parents and 4 sisters and a brother.
Heaven
I am interested in that land because I have held a clear title to a bit of property for many years. I did not buy it. It was given to me without money and without price. The donor purchased it for me at a tremendous sacrifice. I am not holding it for speculation since the title is not transferable.
It is not a vacant lot. They are building a home a home which will never be remolded, nor repaired, because it suits me perfectly. It will never grow old. Termites cannot undermine its foundation, for they rest upon the Rock of Ages.
Fire cannot destroy it. Floods cannot wash it away. No locks or bolts will ever be placed on its doors, for no vicious person ever enters that land, where my dwelling stands almost ready to enter in.
There is a valley of deep shadows between here and the place which I shall journey. I cannot reach my home in that city of gold without passing through this dark valley of shadows but I am not afraid, because the best friend I ever had went through the valley long ago and drove away all its gloom.
He stuck by me through thick and thin I hold His promise in printed page, that He will never forsake me or leave me alone.
My ticket to Heaven has no date marked for the journey no return ticket! No permit for baggage.
I shall meet you over there someday.
Earth has no sorrow, that Heaven cannot heal.
