LUCILLE J. LAMMERS


Lucille Jane Lammers, the daughter of Louis and Johanna (Kraayenbrink) Achterhoff was born June 26, 1927 near Sioux Center, Iowa, she moved with her parents to Rock Valley, Iowa as a child. She received her education in a country school near Rock Valley. After completing her schooling Lucille worked in a Dime Store in Rock Valley. On October 19, 1954, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Lammers Jr. in Rock Valley, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm west of Sheldon for the next 39 years, before retiring and moving into Sheldon in 1993. Bill preceded her in death on March 5, 2005 in Sheldon. Lucille moved to Johnston, Iowa to live with her daughter, before moving into Karen Acres Care Center in Urbandale, Iowa in 2006. She passed away on Monday, December 10, 2007 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, reaching the age of 80 years, 5 months and 14 days.
Lucille was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church in Sheldon, where she had taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed weaving and braiding rugs, playing the piano and listening to the Gaithers. But most of all she enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports.
Lucille is survived by her children and their spouses, a son, Jim and Karla Lammers of Sheldon, Iowa; and two daughters, Wanda and Jeff Peters of Jewell, Iowa; Nancy and Craig Linscheid of Johnston, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, Amanda & Darren Huitink; Amelia & Abigail Lammers; Molly, Maggie, Luke & Logan Peters; Emily, Kayla & Benjamin Linscheid; two step-grandchildren, Joe and his wife, Lara West and Stephen West; three sisters and their spouses, Aldine and Bill Van Regenmorter, Wilma and Bill Bransten and Bertha and Pete Mol all of Sioux Center, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Fannie and her husband, Norm Menning of Rock Valley, Iowa; Elizabeth and her husband, Jim Dykstra of Orange City, Iowa and Karen Lammers of Ireton, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Max McGinnis of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents and a brother, James Achterhoff.
