LORNA A. HAGENBUCHER
Lorna Ann Hagenbucher, the daughter of Fred and Louise (Brietbarth) Hoermann was born April 28, 1908 in Caledonia Township near Germantown, Iowa. She received her education at St. John Lutheran School in Germantown. She moved with her parents to Paullina where she worked at Aurit’s Restaurant and the Paullina Hotel. She was united in marriage to Lester J. Hagenbucher on September 17, 1928. To this union three children were born, Ronald Hagenbucher; Bonnie (Mrs. Bill Joines) and Donna (Mrs. Darrell Nelson). The couple made their home in Paullina where she kept books for Hagenbucher Paint and sold garden plants out of her home. She worked as the custodian of Zion Lutheran Church for ten and a half years before retiring. Her husband preceded her in death on December 28, 1987 in Paullina and after his death she continued to make her home in Paullina. She passed away at the Paullina Care Center on Saturday, April 26, 2008, reaching the age of 99 years, 11 months and 28 days.
She was baptized on May 7, 1908 and later confirmed on April 9, 1922 at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown and was currently a long time member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her two daughters and their husbands, Bonnie and Bill Joines of Meriden, Iowa and Donna and Darrell Nelson of Cherokee; 9 grandchildren, Cathy and David Triemer of Hartley; Rhonda and Tom Schilmoeller of Granville; Jim and Pam Hagenbucher of Des Moines; Keith and Lana Hagenbucher of Pilot Point, TX; Steve and Sue Joines of Woodbury, MN; Brenda Blades of Sioux Falls, SD; Michael and Teri Joines of Sioux Falls, SD; Greg and Brenda Joines of Redwood Falls, MN; Shelly and Jim Vesper of Newton; 22 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, also nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; a son and his wife, Ronald and Jean Hagenbucher; an infant daughter, son-in-law, Duane Main; a grandson, Mark Main; her parents, a sister, Helen Kruse; two brothers, Adolph and Ernest Hoermann.
