LEROY C. HOLCK

LeRoy Chris Holck, the son of John and Alvina (Peters) Holck, was born August 17, 1911 in Paullina, Iowa. He received his education at Dale #9 Township country school and attended Paullina High School through the 11th grade. On June 12, 1937, he was united in marriage to Helen Ebel in Elk Point, South Dakota. After their marriage the couple farmed many years northwest of Paullina, until moving into Paullina in 1978. Helen passed away on January 22, 1998 in Orange City, Iowa. LeRoy later moved to the Paullina Care Center where he made his home. He passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at the Paullina Care Center in Paullina, Iowa, reaching the age of 94 years, 3 months and 6 days.
He was baptized on August 12, 1912 at the Presbyterian Church in Paullina and later was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina on March 29, 1942 and was a longtime member of the church. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing and fishing. LeRoy was a master swine producer as well as serving on the O’Brien County Fair Board and a 4-H Leader. The couple enjoyed spending their winters in Mesa, Arizona.
LeRoy leaves to cherish his memory, his five sons and their wives, Duaine and Sally Holck, Gary and Ann Holck and Dennis and Sue Holck all of Spencer, Iowa; Roger and Pat Holck of Montezuma, Iowa and Chris and Kathy Holck of Okoboji, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Claris and Norman Stevens of Beatrice, Nebraska; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Florence Osthus of Ankeny, Iowa and Uneva Berntson of Paullina, Iowa; two brothers, John Holck, Jr. of Sioux City, Iowa and Donald Holck of LeMars, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; a grandson, Allan Stevens; two sisters, Elva Cole and Sylvia Fiddelke; and his parents.
