LEONARD A. WIKSTROM
Leonard Axel Wikstrom, the son of Axel and Bessie (Day) Wikstrom, was born October 23, 1912 on a farm in Woodbury County near Bronson, Iowa. He received his education in country schools. On February 11, 1939, he was united in marriage to Vera Stoever in Germantown, Iowa. After their marriage the couple lived in Sioux City until moving to a farm in the Paullina and Cleghorn area. They later moved to a farm closer to Paullina in 1971, before retiring into Paullina in 1976. Leonard became a resident of the Paullina Care Center in January of 2002. His wife preceded him in death on July 21, 2004 in Orange City, Iowa. He passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at the care center, reaching the age of 92 years, 7 months and 23 days.
He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sioux City, Iowa in 1939. Leonard was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina and the Paullina Lion’s Club. He enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Leonard is survived by his two children and their spouses, Ron and Jean Wikstrom of Las Vegas, Nevada; Jeanette and John Iversen of Paullina, Iowa; four grandchildren, Joel Wikstrom; Scott and his wife, Joy Wikstrom; Chris and his wife, Debra Iversen; and Ann Iversen; six great-grandchildren, Clarisse; Eleanor; Adam; Aaron; Eric; and Abigail; two sisters, Charlotte Johnson of Greeley, Colorado and Fern and her husband, Ed Dunn of South Sioux City, Nebraska; two brothers, Josiah and his wife, Blanche Wikstrom of Nampa, Idaho and Paul Wickstrom of Kingsley, Iowa; also nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers and one sister.
