LELAND L. HEILIGER

Leland Lambert Heiliger the son of Joseph and Emma (Mory) Heiliger was born February 10, 1932 in Sheldon, Iowa. He attended Sheldon schools and graduated in 1949. After graduating he attended junior college and went to work at Culligan Water and served in the National Guard. On November 10, 1954, Lee was united in marriage to the love of his life, Phyllis Schoep. They made their home in the house they built in 1961 and remained there for 57 years. Lee worked for Northwestern Bell for 37 years. After retirement he taught at NCC and other various places.
Lee loved the Lord will all his heart, and it showed in his life. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who loved him dearly. Lee had a passion for hunting, fishing, and target shooting. He loved to laugh and never missed daily coffee and breakfast with his friends.
Lee is survived by his wife Phyllis of 57 years: three children, Rick and his friend Jim King of Lincoln, Nebraska, Lisa and her husband Paul Visser of Orange City, Iowa, and Dan and his wife Leah of Archer, Iowa: four grandchildren, Jamie and her husband Jeremy Stevens of Hawarden, Iowa, Brandon McCaskey and his friend Sarah Senneff of Mount Carol, Illinois, Ben Vos of Sheldon, Iowa and Nathan Vos of Ames, Iowa: two great-grandchildren Keegan and Giana Stevens of Hawarden: sister, Edith Bilsland of Marcus, Iowa: two brothers Bob Heiliger of Sibley, Iowa, and David and his wife Sandra Heiliger of Houston, Texas
Lee was preceded in death by his parents: sister Beverly: two brothers Wayne and William (Bill).
Through Lee’s Generosity of being an organ donor, others will live through his gift.
