LARRY R. FLIEAR
Larry Ray Fliear, the son of Arthur and Laura (Theesfield) Fliear, was born July 6, 1942 in Sheldon, Iowa. He received his education in Sheldon and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1960. After high school in joined the United States Marine Corp and served in the Vietnam Conflict. In 1968, he moved to California, where he worked as a Warehouse Manager for Schermerhorn Brothers. On July 10, 1971, he was united in marriage to Carol DeBruin in Las Vegas, Nevada. They moved to Sheldon, Iowa in 1981, where Larry was a route salesman for Frito Lay for 20 years before retiring in 2001. Larry and Carol moved to Matlock in 1992. He passed away at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa on Saturday, October 15, 2011 reaching the age of 69 years, 3 months and 12 days.
Larry was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sheldon. He enjoyed his time at the lake, visiting with people; and there wasn’t a person that he didn’t start a conversation with that didn’t end with a joke. But his greatest joy was his family and grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Carol of Matlock; and their three children and spouses, Shanda and Steve Seybert of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; Stephani and Curtis Johnson of Sioux City, Iowa and Darin and Nicole Fliear of Camp Pendleton, California; nine grandchildren, Carlee and Kaylin Seybert; Jayda, Cade, Kiana and Tate Johnson; Kyli, Zachary and Derrick Fliear; four brothers and sisters, Delbert and his wife, Berylois Fliear of Mesa, Arizona; Aletha Salzman of Downey, California; Galen and his wife, Sharon Fliear of Cherokee, Iowa; Gwenda Stegemann of Matlock, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Beverly Fiihr and Marlys Loose and 2 brothers, William “Bill” Iiams and Dale Fliear in infancy.
