KENNETH L. PAULING

Lloyd Pauling, the son of Elon and Ida (Fiddelke) Pauling, was born September 12, 1929, in Sheldon, Iowa. He received his education at Zion Lutheran School and later graduated from Paullina High School in 1947. On November 13, 1948, he was united in marriage to LaDonna Hartong at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ida Grove, Iowa. They made their home in Paullina, Iowa. Kenny worked for Northern Natural Gas Company for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He also did part-time painting. He passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2008 at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, reaching the age of 79 years, 3 months and 13 days.
He was baptized on October 1, 1929 by J. Hartmeister and later confirmed on May 30, 1943 by Martin Peters, at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa, where he was a life-long member of the church. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards and visiting with friends
Kenny is survived by his wife, LaDonna Pauling of Paullina; one son and his wife, Brian and Sibley Pauling of Tulsa, Oklahoma and one daughter, Deb Wallin of Issaquah, Washington; two grandchildren, Sam Pauling and Bryan Rhoads; and one great-grandson, Garrett Rhoads; two brothers, Rev. Del Pauling of Chicago, Ill. and Brad and his wife, Sharm Pauling of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Helen Pauling of Hartley, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Jack Mahnke of Sioux City; a sister and brother-in-law, Paul and LaVonne Hagan of Ogden, Iowa; also nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Lynford Pauling and a sister, Linda Mahnke.
