KATHRYN E. EBEL

Kathryn E. Behrens Ebel, the daughter of Hans and Amanda (Plath) Behrens was born January 2, 1931 north of Paullina, Iowa. During her youth she was confirmed at the Zion Church in Calumet, and received her education and graduated from Calumet High School. She was united in marriage to Burdette Ebel on February 8, 1951 at Germantown, Iowa. The couple has resided in Primghar since their marriage. She was employed at the Ward Memorial Hospital which later became Baum-Harmon Hospital for a total of 42 years, and later worked as a home health aide. Kathryn passed away at the Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar on Monday, May 26, 2008 reaching the age of 77 years, 4 months and 24 days.
She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar and the American Legion Auxiliary in Primghar. She enjoyed cards, gardening, flowers, quilting, one day bus trips, high school activities, especially basketball, baseball/ softball games. She also enjoyed watching Minnesota Twins baseball and Iowa Hawkeye sports on t.v.
Kathryn is survived by her loving husband, Burdette of Primghar; three children, Tim and his wife, Jean and Tom all of Primghar and a daughter Lisa and husband, Allen O’Bannon of Austin, Texas; a granddaughter, Andrea and her husband, Jason Fink; and three great-grandchildren, Mckoy, Ayden and Josephine; two sisters, Helen Benson of Marshall, Minnesota and Lou Behrens of Primghar; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Gary and Richard Behrens; and three brothers-in-law.
