JOYCE E. THOMPSON
Joyce E. Thompson the daughter of A.I. and Ruth (Elliott) Coons was born on November 16, 1930 in Ireton, Iowa. She attended school in Ireton and Hawarden and moved to Primghar in 1948, graduating from Primghar High School in 1951. From 1953 to 1955, she worked in the Primghar Hospital as a nurses aide. In October of 1955, she began work in the OBrien County Courthouse and was appointed Deputy County Treasurer, resigning in1969. From 1970 to 1976, she worked part time at Greenlees Food Market and from 1976 until she retired in 1980, she worked part time at K & M Foodland. She was united in marriage to Glen F. Thompson on September 1, 1959 in Worthington, Minnesota. After their marriage the couple resided in Primghar, Iowa. Glen preceded Joyce in death on September 26, 1982. After Glen passed away, Joyce remained in Primghar, Iowa until moving to Hillcrest Health Care Center in August. She passed away at Hillcrest on October 7, 2016 reaching the age of 85 years, 10 months and 21 days.
She was a member of the United Church of Primghar and a lifetime member of the Hospital Auxiliary of Primghar. Joyces favorite past time was caring for her nieces and nephews, playing cards, fishing, bowling and doing crafts. Joyce made many cards which she sent to people, giving her cards the name of TomMark cards.
Joyce is survived by her nephews and nieces, cousins and friends.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glen; three brothers and five sisters.
