JEAN DOORENBOS
Jean Doorenbos, the daughter of Peter and Effie (Korthals) DeBoer, was born March 4, 1931 in Boyden, Iowa. She attended school in Boyden and graduated from the Boyden High School in 1948. Jean started working for the Smit & Sons Meat Market in Boyden when she was 17 years old; she worked there for nearly 30 years. On January 29, 1951, she was united in marriage to John Doorenbos in the Little Brown Church in Nassau, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Boyden. Jean passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa reaching the age of 83 years, 7 months and 2 days.
Jean was a member of the First Reformed Church in Boyden and of the RCWM, Bible study and had sung in the choir. Jean was devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother; she enjoyed crossword puzzles and decorating her home for the different seasons and the holidays; she also enjoyed Life and had a great since of humor.
Left to cherish her memories is her husband, John of 63 years; their children, Dwayne Butch and his wife, Christine Doorenbos of Ankeny, Iowa; Carol and her husband, Robert Boote of Hull, Iowa, and Carla and her husband, David Radley of Sioux City, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a brother, Harold DeBoer and his special friend, Marcie Scharf of Olathe, Kansas; two sisters, Darlene and her husband, John Jr. Hollander of Boyden, Iowa and Dorothy and Ivan Van Ommeran of DeWitt, Iowa; also a host of other relatives and friends.
Jean was preceded in death by a son, David Lynn Doorenbos; and her parents.
