Jason Gerald Dieterman, age 85, of Arizona, who passed away on Friday, June 10, 2016 in Arizona. His Graveside Service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 17, 2016 at the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa with Rev. Paul Van Maaren Officiating.
Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa with Military Flag Presentation by the McGlothlen-Cowie American Legion Post #145 of Sheldon.
Visitation with the family present will be from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45A.M. Friday, June 17, 2016 at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, Iowa.

Jason was born on Valentine's Day Feb. 14, 1931, to Herman and Follena (Nieuwendorp) Dieterman. He was their only child. He attended Bell School and graduated Sheldon High School in 1948. He worked for a short time in Sheldon before enlisting in the US Navy where he served on an aircraft carrier and had two tours of duty to Korea. While on a two week furlough in July 1953 he married Denise Smith and they moved to San Diego where he worked at Miramar Naval Air Station until his enlistment was over in 1955. He worked at a communications company for 32 years before retiring.
He loved to go camping, fishing, square dancing and traveling and they enjoyed many countries in their travels. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners. He was a faithful and dedicated husband and father.
He is survived by his wife, Denise of 62 years; his son, Timothy and his wife, Thuy Ngan and daughter Christina; a daughter Kim and her son, Aaron and daughter Nicole.
