JANET E. DIXON
Janet Eleanore Dixon was born April 28, 1920 to Calvin and Bertha Crew in Jordan’s Grove, Iowa. She graduated from Vinton High School in Vinton, Iowa. After attending Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa she taught in a one-room school house in Benton County, Iowa. Janet married Robert D. Dixon on August 12, 1944 in Vinton, Iowa. They eventually settled in Rolfe, Iowa for 44 years where her husband was in banking and they moved to Sheldon in 1995. She passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon reaching the age of 92 years, 9 months and 9 days.
She was a member of the Sheldon United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and P.E.O. She loved music especially playing piano and organ. She enjoyed volunteering at the elementary school.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Teresa Dixon of Edina, Minnesota and her son, Robert J. “Rob” and his wife, Bonnie Dixon of Sheldon, Iowa; two grandchildren, Heidi (Chad) Brown of Sheldon, Iowa and Rob (Lizzy) Dixon of Des Moines, Iowa; three plus one soon to–arrive great grandchildren, Parker and Carter Nissen and Louie Dixon; sisters, Betty McIntyre of Ft. Dodge, Iowa and Lenore Cullman of Long Beach, California; brother, David (Olive) Crew of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Bob on November 14, 2005; her parents and two brothers.
