JAMES L. TESCH
James L. “Jim” Tesch, the son of Albert (Slim) and Lillian Kluender Tesch was born February 19, 1929 in Caledonia Township O’Brien County, Iowa. He received his education at Zion Lutheran School and later graduated from Calumet High School.
After high school he was employed by Seih Farm Drainage Company. On June 19, 1953, he was united in marriage to Shirley Koehlmoos at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. After their marriage Jim was a farm hand for a couple of years before working for Bing Miller driving the grocery truck in the Germantown area. He later worked his own grocery truck route driving his “blue truck” for a number of years. He worked in Granville for Jim Beck Feed Store before working for the Farmers Co-op Elevator, where he worked in the mill before his retirement. Jim and Shirley made their home in Germantown for many years. He passed away at his home on Thursday January 12, 2012 reaching the age of 82 years 10 months and 23 days.
He was baptized on March 10, 1929 and later confirmed on June 1, 1954 and was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. He enjoyed his family, golfing, crossword puzzles, playing cards, reading and watching TV.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 58 years, Shirley of Germantown; children, Lori and her husband Duane Hansen of Granville, Iowa; Cindy Traver of LeMars, Iowa; Dave and his wife Jo Tesch of Paullina, Iowa; Dan and his wife Patricia Tesch of Green River, Wyoming and Judy and her husband Jim Hattermann of Germantown, Iowa; also 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren brothers and sisters, Don and his wife Ida Tesch of Neosho, Missouri, Shirley Doyle of Sioux Falls, S.D., Bob and Peg Tesch of Storm Lake, Iowa, Joanne Reimers of Holstein, Iowa, Dick and Jolene Tesch of Rogers, Arkansas and Carolyn Chase of Cherokee, Iowa also other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Kenny.
