HILDA M. EBEL
Hilda Marie Ebel, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Schuknecht) Kluender, was born June 11, 1909 in Baker Township of O’Brien County, Iowa. She received her education in schools in the Adrian, Minnesota area. On March 7, 1928, she was united in marriage to Edwin F. Ebel in Colorado. After their marriage the couple farmed in the Iona, Minnesota area until moving to the Paullina, Iowa area. The couple later moved into Germantown, where she was a cook at the St. John Lutheran School in Germantown, from 1952 until the closing of the school. Her husband preceded her in death on October 8, 1984 in Germantown. Hilda remained in the family home in Germantown and moved into Paullina in 2003. She moved to the Paullina Care Center on February 28, 2005. She passed away at the care center on Thursday, March 17, 2005, reaching the age of 95 years, 9 months and 6 days.
She was baptized on June 27, 1909 and later confirmed on March 25, 1925 and was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. She was a member of the Ladies Aid of the church and the Silver and Gold; she enjoyed decorating cakes, quilting and was the apron lady for the Vacation Bible School.
Hilda leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, Anna Mae and her husband, Charles Blanchard of Olympia, Washington; Evelyn Puckett of Eagle Creek, Oregon; Ruth and her husband, James Wester of Paullina, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Geraldine Kluender of Fridley, Minnesota; and other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters, 2 sons-in-law, Robert Rasch and Stuart Puckett.
