Henrietta Balt, age 84, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Prairie View Home in Sanborn, Iowa. Funeral Services will be Friday, March 8, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. Rev. Paul Van Maaren officiating. Burial to follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon. Visitation will be Thursday, March 7, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon. Henrietta "Toots" Balt was born on September 20, 1934 in Ireton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Gerrit and Cynthia (Mulder) Van Ravenswaay. She lived her youth in Ireton where she attended a country school. The family also lived in Peterson, Sanborn and Sheldon, Iowa. Henrietta worked at Armors Egg Plant in Sheldon before she was married. She was united in marriage to Willis Calvin Balt of Sheldon on January 6, 1961 at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. They lived at Fort Riley in Manhattan, Kansas before moving to Sheldon. Henrietta was a housewife, mother and caretaker. She took care of her mother, sister Lela, mother-in-law and her three children. She was a shy, giving and loving person who was meticulous and had good attention to details. She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren. The grandkids especially enjoyed Grandma and Grandpa taking them out for ice cream at Butch's. Henrietta and Willis were always together. Henrietta was also very grateful for the opportunity to have a weekly hair appointment with her daughter-in-law, Brenda. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. Henrietta passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Prairie View Home in Sanborn. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 58 years, Willis Balt of Sanborn, IA; her children, Wayne (Pixie) Balt of Hospers, IA, Marcia Balt of Sheldon, IA, Jerry (Brenda) Balt of Sheldon, IA; 3 grandchildren, Angela (Andrew) Roelfs of Sioux Center, IA, Ashley Balt of Sheldon, IA, and Travis Balt of Sioux Falls, SD; 3 great-grandchildren, Arabelle Roelfs, Amara Roelfs, and Aven Roelfs of Sioux Center, IA; one sister, Gertrude (Cort) Victoria of Sheldon, IA; brother-in-law, Peter L. Vander Zwaag of Orange City, IA. She was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Reegan Drew Roelfs; her parents, Gerrit and Cynthia Van Ravenswaay; brother, Richard (Wilmina) Van Ravenswaay; sisters, Madeline Vander Zwaag, Lela (Loren) Van Heuvelen and one infant sister; nephew, Larry Van Heuvelen; parents-in-law, Conrad and Nellie Balt; brothers-in-law, Henry (Cynthia) Balt, Edwin (Ann) Balt, and Richard (Marianne) Balt.
