HARRIET L. REIMERS

Harriet Leona Reimers, the daughter of Fred and Eva (Van Oort) Wilts, was born December 19, 1919, on the family farm near George, Iowa. She received her education in a country school near George. On May 29, 1941, she was united in marriage to William Vernon Reimers in Neligh, Nebraska. After their marriage, the couple made their home on a farm near Boyden. Harriet was a devoted wife and mother, working side by side with Vern. They lived on the family farm until 1977 when they moved into Boyden. Harriet was a faithful member of the United Presbyterian Church in Boyden. She was an avid Cubs fan, enjoyed playing cards with friends, taking care of her flowers, morning coffee with the neighbors, family fishing outings, but most of all spending time with family. Vern preceded Harriet in death on October 19, 1999. In the last two years she enjoyed her home at Pleasant Acres taking an active part in many activities. She ended each day with the Lords Prayer, the 23rd Psalm and Verns favorite song for her, You are My Sunshine. Harriet passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the Sanford Health Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, reaching the age of 94 years, 4 months and 15 days.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Fred and his wife, Arlys Reimers, Carol Pomerenke and her special friend, Dave Reiners all of Sheldon, Iowa, Bettie and her husband, Norm Van Sloten of Boyden, Judy and her husband, Jim Smits of Orange City, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Sue Reimers of Boyden; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; three sisters, Alvina and her husband, Henry Van Heuvelen of Sheldon, Iowa, Joyce and her husband, Richard Johnson of Surprise, Arizona and Mary Ann Reekers of Hull, Iowa; also a host of other relatives and friends.
Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, Vern; son, William Reimers; parents; two grandsons, Randy Van Sloten and Steven Pomerenke; son-in-law, Denny Lange; a brother, Fred Wilts and a sister, Evelyn Postma.
