He moved with his parents to Sheldon, Iowa at the age of 14, so that they could attend a Christian school. He went on to graduate from Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa in 1951. In 1955, Grant was inducted into the United States Army, and after serving for 16 months in Korea he was honorably discharged. On April 30, 1957, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Kreykes at the Sheldon First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, Iowa. Grant passed away at his home in Sheldon on July 28, 2020 reaching the age of 87 years and 4 days.
Grant was an active member at First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon and enjoyed serving the Lord as an elder several times and on the Christian School board. Grant loved serving as a Cadet leader for twenty years, which included many Conventions and Camporees. A lot of joy was added as a counselor at Western Christian High School Teen Advisors and as a mentor for Crossroads Ministry Bible Studies with prisoners.
