Celebration of Life

Gloria Lou Hoffert, the daughter of Fred and Carrie Hoffert was born on October 27, 1926 in Rodman, Iowa. She graduated from West Bend High School in 1944 and went on to earn a degree at Mankato Business School. Prior to marriage, she worked for Standard Oil in Mason City, Iowa.
On January 6, 1946, Gloria married her high school sweetheart, Gene Anliker. Gloria and Gene moved to Primghar, Iowa to open Jean’s Jewelry. Together they had three children, Jeff, Jo Lynn (Jodee), and Jay. Gene died on March 25, 1961.
On February 3, 1963, Gloria married Gerb DeKok and became the mother of Glenda, Ken, Ron, and Roger. Together, they farmed near Primghar until Gerb’s death on May 5, 1985.
Gloria married Delbert Schwien on July 10, 1987, and two more children, Mike and Lynn joined the clan. Gloria and Delbert moved into Primghar in 1992. Delbert died on July 13, 1998.
Believing that God always has a plan, Gloria met Clarence Hammann in 2001, and continued to enjoy life. Together, they spent their time in Primghar, Muscatine, Iowa, and Mesa, Arizona.
She was a member of the American Reformed Church in Primghar. Gloria was young at heart and always had a smile on her face. Her love of life earned her the name of Sassy Gram. She enjoyed baking, dancing, playing cards, having coffee hour, and spending time with family and friends. She taught her children when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Her life is an example of how love will get you through anything.
Left to cherish her memory are, Jeff (Jean) Anliker of Belchertown, Mass., Glenda (Dean) Parrish of Cherokee, IA, Jodee (Bill) Jackes of LeMars, IA, Ken (Jeri Jae) DeKok of Kearney, NE, Jay (Juanita) Anliker of Primghar, IA, Ron (Sherri) DeKok of LeMars, IA, Mike (Charlene) Schwien of Hartley, IA, Roger (Karen) DeKok of Mt.
