GEORGE E. RIEDEMANN
George Edward Riedemann, the son of Henry and Clara (Kluender) Riedemann, was born May 7, 1920 at Germantown, Iowa. He received his education in St. John Lutheran School in Germantown. He was called into the service serving in the Army during World War II, from August 20, 1942 until his discharge on December 6, 1945 serving in the Pacific. On May 7, 1946, he was united in marriage to Lucille Witt at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple began farming, first with George’s parents and later on their own, until retiring in 1983 and moving into Paullina. The couple’s retirement years were spent in Paullina. He passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at the Mercy Medical Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, reaching the age of 85 years, 3 months and 4 days.
He was baptized on May 23, 1920 and later confirmed on March 25, 1934 at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, and of the Russell West Post of the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and cooking.
George leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Lucille of Paullina and his children, Phyllis and her husband, Kurt Hanson of Minneapolis, MN; Delvon Lee and his wife, Marsha Riedemann of Paullina, IA; Lynette and her husband, Daniel Lundell of Meriden, IA; Randy and his wife, Jan Riedemann of Paullina, IA; 8 grandchildren; 1 step grandchild; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 step great-grandchild; a sister, Lillie Nielsen of Costa Mesa, CA; a brother, Clarence Riedemann of Cambridge, MN; 5 sisters-in-law, Mayme Witt of Paullina; Leona Riedemann of Paullina, IA; Maybelle Riedemann of Little Falls, MN; Jane Riedemann of Independence, IA; Nellie Luhrs of Primghar, IA; also other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Amy and Jamie Riedemann; his parents; 2 sisters, Evelyn Riedemann, as a young child; and Norma Johnson; also 4 brothers, Walter, Ben, Clifford and Elroy.
