EVERETT P. STROEBELE

Everett Paul Stroebele of Primghar, formerly of Oakland, Iowa, passed away on August 18, 2011, at the age of 92.
Everett was born June 15, 1919 on the family farm near Oakland, Iowa, the 9th child of Edward and Alma (Dau) Stroebele. Everett attended country school and later Oakland High School. Everett started farming at the age of 17 on the family farm, which he later purchased. It was recognized as a century farm in 1976. On October 2, 1949, he was united in marriage to Ann Edith Angus of Malvern, Iowa at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Council Bluffs. To the couple, three daughters were born. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Everett farmed the home farm for 53 years. Many nieces and nephews have fond memories of spending time and/or working for Uncle Everett on the farm. Everett was a pioneer of conservation practices by installing terraces with his own plow in the forties and later adding miles of terraces so that the whole farm had as little erosion as possible. When he was 60 years old, Everett switched to no till (or ridge tillage) to further conserve soil, showing his willingness to still try new things.
Everett was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Oakland, transferring to the United Church of Primghar eight years ago when they moved to Primghar. Everett was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a charter member of SW Iowa Farm Business Association and was a Farm Bureau member.
Everett enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling. He and Ann were in every state in the United States, the last one being Hawaii in 2010 to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. They also traveled in all of the Canadian Provinces and enjoyed a trip to Europe.
Everett is survived by his wife, Ann, and daughters, Sheryl Wilson (Doyle) of Primghar, Teresa Dighton (Brad) of Rapid City, SD, and Janae Henningsen (Birger) of DeWitt, Ia; eight grandchildren, Shana Wilson (Mark Babas), Justin (Rachel) Wilson, Molly (Derek) Fivelson, Alex (Jenny) Dighton, Andrew (Chelsea) Dighton, Keinah (Matthew) Tindol, Brenon Henningsen, Evanny Henningsen, ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and ten siblings; Ada Riley, Mammie Stroebele, Joe Stroebele, Wilbert Stroebele, Alta Pontow, Lucille Hadfield, Louise Leu, Vernetta Donavan, Esther Diimig, Lottie Stroebele.
