EVELYN KAMSTRA

Evelyn Kamstra, the daughter of Henry and Jenny (Kline) Meerdink was born September 10, 1927 in Hull, Iowa. She received her education in a country school near Hull, Iowa. On October 12, 1950, she was united in marriage to William John Kamstra at Hull, Iowa. After their marriage the couple farmed at Ireton and later moved to a farm near Sheldon. While living on the farm, Evelyn was a housewife and also participated in the farming operation. She also worked for Sheldon Interiors for many years and for Marigolds where she quilted and made crafts. Their retirement years were spent in Sheldon. Her husband, Bill preceded her in death on September 10, 2006 in Sheldon. Evelyn remained in her home until moving to the Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon where she passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012, reaching the age of 84 years, 8 months and 14 days.
She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. Evelyn’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were an important part of her life. She provided dinner and lunch on Sundays, so she could have her family together. She never missed a birthday and made many quilts for her grandchildren. Her family was her legacy.
Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Eileen Martens of Sheldon; three sons, Butch Kamstra and Terry Kamstra both of Sheldon; Arlan Kamstra of Albuquerque, New Mexico; ten grandchildren, Lindsay, B.J. and his wife Dara, Krystal and her fiancé Greg Poppema, Patience and her husband Chad Braun, Christine, Karen, Matthew and his wife Elizabeth, Luke and Stacia, Elizabeth and her husband Josh Fettes and Margaret; six great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Shelby, Beau, Cayden, Alejandro and Junior; two brothers, Ed and his wife Arlene Meerdink of Hartley, Iowa and Marvin and his wife Betty Meerdink of Hull, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Jean Goslinga of Orange City, Iowa and Madaline Houstma of Visalia, California; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Tony and Gloria Kamstra of Quincy, Washington; Peter and his wife, Diane Kamstra of Orange City, Iowa; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, a daughter-in-law, Kay Kamstra.

Evelyn had a strong faith and love for the Lord.
