ESTHER M. KURTH
Esther (Rolfes) Kurth, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Langel) Rolfes was born January 13, 1930 in LeMars, Iowa. She passed away on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 at the Prairie View Campus in Sanborn, Iowa in a room filled by her family and holding her husband’s hand, reaching the age of 81 years 3 months and 11 days.
Esther married Roland Kurth on September 6, 1949 in LeMars, Iowa. They moved to Primghar, Iowa in 1961, where they settled on a farm to raise their seven children-Esther’s pride and joy. She was very active with St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and served actively on St. Anthony’s Guild. Esther was a certified dietician at the Baum-Harmon Memorial Hospital and had many hobbies. These hobbies included tending to her flower gardens, meeting with her coffee clubs, and spending time with her sisters. Most importantly, Esther was the #1 fan of her children’s and grandchildren’s many activities. Esther was an exercise enthusiast and enjoyed many hours at the Primghar Fitness Center.
Esther is survived by her husband, Ron. Esther’s legacy lives on in her husband and their seven children, twenty-one grandchildren, and two great grandchildren; their daughter, Bev (Dave) Padget of Florida/Minnesota and their three children, Ryan, Matt and Nicole; their daughter, Jan (Bob) Riepma of Iowa and their two children, Eric (his wife, Janel and daughter, Olivia) and Amy; their son, Mark (Laurie) Kurth of California and their four children, Jennifer, Dan, Tom (his wife, Tarryn), and Jeff; their son, Fred (Terry) Kurth of Texas and their two children, Jon (his wife, Chandler and son, Ben) and Jacquie (her fiancée, Cecil); their daughter, Kathy (Steve) Leng of Iowa and their four children, Kyle (his wife, Heather), Kelsey, Carmen and Cody; their son, Tim (Gayle) Kurth of Illinois and their three children, Josephine, Mackenzie, Corissa; and their daughter, Michelle (Drew) Townsend of Illinois and their three children, Alex, Jacob and Julia. Family bonds live on through her three sisters and one brother, Ann, Jeanie, Lois and Wally.
Esther has joined her parents, a brother, Al; five sisters, Rosie, Onie, Betty, Florence and Rosella; her granddaughter, Sarah; and great granddaughter, Chloe.
