ELIZABETH A. FOREMAN

Elizabeth Ann Foreman, the daughter of John and Anna (Tastove) Vonderharr was born December 1, 1915 on a farm near Granville, Iowa. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Granville, Iowa. On October 23, 1934, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Henry H. Foreman in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Granville. As a young bride, Elizabeth worked as a waitress and a cook at the Alton OK Café as her husband was trucking. In 1944, they moved to a farm near Sheldon, where they began their farming career. She worked with her husband tending the fields and all of their livestock. Elizabeth had a love for her chickens, from baby chicks through butchering. She also did all of the gardening for their vegetables and fruits; which made her a wonderful cook. She had many talents one being; she would sew new clothes of her own design for her children and grandchildren. Elizabeth passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2007 at the Baum-Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar, Iowa, reaching the age of 91 years, 6 months and 27 days.
Elizabeth was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheldon; St. Patrick’s Guild and Catholic Daughters of America. She especially loved attending all the wonderful school programs that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in at St. Patrick’s.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, LeRoy and his wife, Ardis Foreman, and a daughter, Bonnie Roder, all of Sheldon, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Gwen Schilling; Lyle Roder; Laura Wagner; Gerri Foreman; Gordon Foreman; Gregory Foreman and Leann (Roder) Manson; thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two brothers-in-law and their spouses, Jim and Ruth Beck of Granville, Iowa; Lloyd and Dorothy Foreman of Bakersfield, California; and a sister-in-law, Ethel Baltzer of Henderson, Nevada; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Foreman; her parents, and stepfather, Bert Christensen; a grandson, Glenn Foreman; a daughter-in-law, Alice Foreman, and a son-in-law, Robert Roder; five sisters, Clotilda Vonderhaar, as a child; Elenora Christensen; Bertha Verschoor; Louise Verschoor; Caroline Boersma; two brothers, John and Edward Vonderhaar; a half-brother, Elmer Christensen; and a half-sister, Peg Beck.

We start at the beginning,
The day we were born.
An infant, a child and then a young girl.
Everyone watched as life began to uncurl
Growing and learning and walking through life,
Next thing you know she’s becoming a wife,
A homemaker, a mother, and everything more.
Every person she knew was loved to the core.
She lived her life fully, not a day went to waste,
Though some of us thought she left us with haste.
Let us not forget the lessons she taught;
The joy and the love to our lives she had brought.
After she’d gone, what we know for sure is…
You’ll not be forgotten and you will be missed, Liz.
