Donald John Shea, the son of John and Louise (Halbach) Shea, was born April 10, 1925 and raised on a farm in Summit Township, northwest of Primghar. He attended rural school and graduated from Primghar High School in 1942. Don was united in marriage to Anna Marie Konz on April 28, 1947 in Alton, Iowa. They made their home near Primghar, where they were engaged in farming. In 1961, they moved to their farm northwest of Primghar, where they raised their family. They retired on the farm in 1998 and moved into Primghar in 1999. In October of 1999, Don became a resident of the Primghar Care Center. On April 1, 2007, he went home to the Lord, reaching the age of 81 years, 11 months and 21 days.
He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Primghar. He enjoyed playing cards, loved to go fishing and listening to polkas. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to him and he loved to have them around.
Don leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 59 years, Ann of Primghar; six sons and six daughters, Ron and Donna Shea; Ray and Sharon Shea all of Primghar; Rose and Bill Campbell of Council Bluffs, IA; Sheryl and Dwight Boates of Elberta, Al; Gary and Janet Shea; Susie and Eugene Schiefen all of Primghar; Patricia Shea of Bay Point, CA; John and Tricia Shea of Granville, IA; Joe Shea of Burnsville, MN; Bill and Dana Shea of Minneapolis, MN; Gina and Dan DeJong of Sioux Falls, SD; Tami and Dave Gibson of Jefferson, SD; 46 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Norine Wright of Sanborn, IA; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Sheila Shea and two sisters in infancy.

Those we love remain with us
For love itself lives on,
And cherished memories never fade
Because a loved one’s gone.

Those we love can never be
More than a thought apart,
For as long as there is memory,
They’ll live on in the heart.

Today’s service is a celebration of Don’s life. By sharing his knowledge, talents, strength of character, sense of humor and love, he resides in each of us. His spirit lives on in our hearts and minds, testimony that his legacy continues. Thank you for your presence to honor Don’s spirit; a shining light to help us through our sadness.
