DELORES A. WINTER
Delores Adele Winter, daughter of Henry and Minnie (Hollander) Stueven was born January 17, 1938 in Lyon County, Iowa. She was baptized January 30, 1938 and confirmed March 25, 1951 at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Boyden where she was a life-long member. She attended St. John Christian Day School. In 1948, she moved with her parents to a farm northwest of Sheldon, Iowa. She graduated from Sheldon High School in 1955.
In 1956, Delores married Norven Winter at St. John Lutheran Church and they made their home on a farm northwest of Sheldon prior to moving to Boyden.
Delores life is exemplified by her service to her family, her church and her community. She taught Sunday school, played the organ, was Dorcas president and conference chairperson of the Northwest Iowa Women of the ELCA. She sewed quilts and made kits for Lutheran World Relief. She was honored to write and give radio talks with Christian Woman Speaks in Spencer.
In her retirement, Delores enjoyed golfing, bowling and her work at the Sheldon sale barn. She and Norven spent many years traveling the country and world with family and friends.
This past Thursday, November 20, 2014, Delores passed away at Sanford Medical Center in Sheldon at the age of 76 years, 10 months, 3 days.
Delores is lovingly remembered by her husband, Norven and her six children, Bonnie (Rod) Drenkow of Waverly, IA, Denise (Bill) Heskin of Chaska, MN, Carla (Brad) Okrina of Omaha, NE, Paul (Kim) Winter of Sheldon, IA, Janice (Brian) Dye of Eden Prairie, MN and Karen (Scott) Bailey of Minneapolis, MN; 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; one brother, Loren (Judy) Stueven.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Minnie Stueven; a brother, Wayne Stueven.
