DALE D. PARRY
Dale Dean Parry, the son of Eli and Lottie (Irvine) Parry was born January 23, 1929 in Primghar, Iowa. He was a Primghar Bulldog for all his education graduating from Primghar High School in 1947. He was united in marriage to Nadine Henline on August 23, 1950 in Primghar. The couple farmed north of Primghar for many years. He was in the Iowa Army National Guard serving from Sheldon; he sold insurance and for several years before his retirement worked at the Primghar Savings Bank. The couple moved into Primghar in 1989. During his retirement years he assisted at the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Primghar and Paullina and the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon and Boyden. He passed away at the Primghar Care Center on Thursday, July 16, 2009 after being a resident for five weeks, reaching the age of 80 years, 5 months and 23 days.
He was an active member of the United Church of Primghar always keeping an eye on church activities. Family and friends were important to Dale; he enjoyed visiting shut-ins at home or in the nursing home, playing deuces wild, having coffee at Pro-Go in Primghar. He also enjoyed traveling, always looking at his atlas for a new place to visit or tell somebody how to find a place. He liked to watch the birds and squirrels at the feeders around his home.
Dale’s memory will always be in the hearts of his wife of almost 59 years, Nadine of Primghar; his daughters, Dee and Randy and Kim and Joel all of Primghar and Jan and Jim of Hartley; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, Jason and Aimee Vander Pol and children, Maura and Ellie; Cory and Rose Vander Pol and children, Ashley and Courtney; Nick Tewes, Barry and Jackie Tewes and children, Tanner and Collin; Brock Norton and fiancée Jenn; and Brooke Norton. Dale also considered Brian Guetschow as a grandson. He is also survived by one brother, Thomas and his wife, Dorothy Parry of Frederick, Maryland and one sister, Virgene and her husband, Larry Becker of Rolla, Missouri and a sister-in-law, Molly Parry of Sheldon; also nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Don.
