CLIFFORD B. HELLMANN

Clifford B. Hellmann, the son of Ben and Ella (Jacobs) Hellmann was born on March 20, 1917 in Paullina, Iowa. He received his education in Paullina and graduated from high school in 1935 and Coe College in 1939. On December 7, 1940, he was united in marriage to Ellen Snyder in Cedar Rapids. After their marriage Cliff was called up into the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1945. In 1946, the couple moved to Paullina where they farmed south of Paullina for many years. After their retirement in 1983 the couple remained on the family farm. Ellen preceded Cliff in death on December 16, 2010 in Primghar. Cliff remained on the family farm after her passing. On Saturday, March 9, 2013 Cliff passed away at the Baum Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar, reaching the age of 95 years, 11 months and 19 days.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge; he served on the Paullina School Board for twelve years and on the First National Bank Board, he was also a member of the Russell West Post #95 of the American Legion in Paullina. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and woodworking.
Clifford is survived by two daughters, Catherine Jacobson of Bellevue, Washington and Mary Rohlfsen of Bloomington, Illinois; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Cunningham of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; also other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two sisters, Margaret Fee and Dorothy Carpenter.
