CARRIE R. “CAROLYN” PINGEL

Carrie Ruth “Carolyn” Pingel the daughter of Harlan and Ruth Widgery, was born July 5, 1922 in Winnebago, Nebraska. She lived most of her youth in Sioux City where she received her education. She was united in marriage to George John Pingel of Primghar, Iowa on June 19, 1940 at Ponca, Nebraska. They lived their entire married life on a farm near Primghar. Her husband preceded her in death in 1989, and Carrie remained on the family farm for several years until moving into Primghar. Because of failing health she moved to the Cherokee Villa Nursing Home in Cherokee in September of 2010. She passed away on Thursday October 6, 2011 at the Cherokee Villa reaching the age of 89 years 3 months and 1 day.
She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar. She had a passion for gardening and flowers. She also loved to quilt.
She is survived by four daughters; Karen Gano of Sheldon, Iowa, Georgia Mc Namara of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Linda Milligan of Klamath Falls, Oregon and Betty (Robert) Koehlmoos of Cherokee, Iowa, eight grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Carrie was preceded in death by her husband George, granddaughter Rebecca Milligan Coffin, parents, two sisters Judy and Louise and brother James.
