CALVIN G. STEWART
Calvin “Cal” G. Stewart, the son of James Earl and Vera (Chapman) Stewart was born October 16, 1925 in Primghar, Iowa. He received his education in Primghar and graduated from Primghar High School. Cal joined the United States Navy on October 11, 1943 serving in the Submarine Service in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in June of 1945. He was united in marriage to Joyce Getting in October of 1949. Cal made his home in Paullina for many years where he was employed at the Paullina Locker for 43 years until his retirement in 1992. He was united in marriage to Lois Steffens in 1982 and their married life was spent in Paullina. He passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012 at his home in Paullina, reaching the age of 86 years, 3 months and 4 days.
He enjoyed gardening, bowling, camping. When his children were young, Cal was involved with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and had served as a Scout Master for eight years.
Cal is survived by his wife, Lois of Paullina; children, Roger Craig and his wife, Linda Stewart of Spiro, Oklahoma; Kay Stewart of Mankato, Minnesota; Cheri and her husband, Martin Langford of Owatonna, Minnesota and Rochelle and her husband, Randy Hofmeyer of Paullina; three step children, Dianne and her husband, Mike Ingvall of Fostoria, Iowa; Walt and his wife, Janet Bahr and Mike and his wife, Terri Bahr all of Portland, Oregon; also 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce in 1981; parents, James and Vera; four sisters, Velma, Geraldine, Janice, Elizabeth and one brother, Albert.
