“Daddy”

As we sit at our aunts,
Waiting and waiting,
Trying to have a fun time,
Laughing and laughing’
The phone is ringing,
But we can not hear,
Days pass and parents still aren’t home,
Finally they come to take us home,
Wondering what’s going on we look around
To see people crying.
Mom says, “kids, there is something
I need to tell you…”
Forty-eight seconds,
Pain strikes my heart,
Three words changed my life,
Dad has cancer.
With those three words,
My life was changed,
Fear covered my mind,
Love flowed out of my heart,
Don’t give up keep, keep on going,
Faith, Hope, and Love can get us through this,
Love of a family never fades,
It may be hard, it may be huge,
I’ll be here for you day after day,
He’s what keeps me going everyday,
I’m proud to say with all my heart,
I love you Daddy!
