Services for Bette J. Pekelder, age 90, of Sheldon who passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Andringa Funeral Home – Sheldon with Pastor Daniel Tracy ~ officiating.

Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. to 1:45 P.M. on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Andringa Funeral Home – Sheldon.

Bette J. Pekelder was born December 9, 1931, to Ike and Elizabeth (Vander Veen) Bosma on the family farm near Sanborn, Iowa. Bette attended Hospers country school and graduated from Hospers High School, Hospers, Iowa.
On September 11, 1952, Bette was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Pekelder Sr. at Christian Reformed Church in Hospers, Iowa. They spent their married life living on the Pekelder family farm. Bob and Bette moved into the Christian Retirement Home in 2015. Bette moved to Sheldon Senior Care in May 2021. Bette was a member of First Christian Reformed Church, Sheldon, Iowa. Bette was a hard-working farm wife and enjoyed showing Belgian Horses with Bob. They wintered in Almo, Texas for 20 years. Bette passed away on her 90th birthday at Sheldon Senior Care.
Bette is survived by her children. Daughter, Bonnie (Byke) Van Donge of Sioux Center, Iowa. Their children and grandchildren. Benj (Rhonda) Van Donge, Micah, Jamin, Eli, and Isaac of Sioux Center, Iowa. Ryan (Kari) Van Donge, Carter, Mya, Trey of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Eric (Jamelee) Van Donge, Hudson, Lincoln, Beau of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Daughter, Mary Beth (Jerry) Reed of LeMars, Iowa. Their children and grandsons, Rebecca Reed of Chicago, Illinois. Cinda (Jim) Krause, Kasen, Jacob of Moville, Iowa. Son, Bryan (Bobbi) Pekelder of Hospers, Iowa. Their children, Brandon of Bellevue, Nebraska, Brent of Sheldon, Iowa, Blair of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Her sisters, Sophia La Masurier, Lorraine Muilenburg, brother, Joe Bosma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob in 2020, her son Robert Jr. in 2012, her parents, 7 sisters and 3 brothers.
