BERENDENA BEA SCHOLTEN

Berendena Bea Scholten, the daughter of George and Hermina (Bosman) Brinks, was born September 9, 1928 on a farm near Boyden, Iowa where she was raised and attended school. On June 23, 1950, she was united in marriage to John Scholten in the First Reformed Church in Boyden, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Boyden for 4 years, in 1954, they moved to Chandler, Minnesota; 8 years later they moved to Hull, Iowa and in 1973, they moved to an acreage near Boyden. Bea had worked as a clerk in several locations where she had lived, the Boyden Grocery Store; the Dry Cleaners and the Family Clothiers in Hull, Iowa; a Jewelry Store in Grand Rapids, Michigan and volunteered in the kitchen at Hull Western Christian. She was preceded in death by her husband, John on June 29, 1994. Bea passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa reaching the age of 86 years, 1 month and 20 days.
Bea was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon and a past member of the Boyden First Reformed Church; the Christian Reformed Church in Hull; the Chandler Christian Reformed Church; and the Hope Christian Reformed Church in Hull, she had also been a member of the churches choir, Ladies Aid and the Christian School Society; she also enjoyed Mommying, crafts, gardening, cooking and her family.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her 4 children and their spouses, Myron Mike and Connie Scholten of Plano, TX; Elaine and Ross Mastbergen of Paullina, IA; Mark and Shirlee Scholten of DeMotte, IN and Lorelei and Greg Meeter of Spencer, IA; 4 grandchildren, Tiffany and her husband, Scott Zeilenga of Sheldon; Ashley Mastbergen of Sheldon; Kelsey Mastbergen of Sioux Falls, SD and Eric Meeter of Spencer, IA; 3 great grandchildren, Daniela Mastbergen and Micah and Elizabeth Zeilenga; a sister, Georgiann Georgie Holtrop of Sheldon; a brother-in-law, Abe Schiebout of Pipestone, MN; 3 sisters-in-law, Henrietta Brinks of Worthington, MN; Henrietta Dykstra of Hull; Betty Van Tubergen of George, IA; also a host of other relatives and friends.
Bea was preceded in death by a husband, John Scholten; her parents, 3 sisters, Joanne Wolthuizen, Hermina Schiebout and Gerdena Brinks; and 2 brothers, John and Gerrit Brinks.
Visitation will be after 2 P.M. on Friday, October 31, 2014 with the family present from 4 6 P.M. at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, Iowa.
