AUGUST HENRY WILLIAM WOELBER
August Henry William Woelber, the son of Johannes Carl Claus and Emma Augusta (Meyer) Woelber was born November 26, 1937 in Sheridan Township, Boyden, IA. He was baptized August Heinrich Wilhelm Woelber on December 12, 1937 and was confirmed on July 13, 1952. August graduated from St. John Lutheran School in Boyden and also received his GED. August served in the United States Army from September 1960 until his discharge in August 1962, during the Berlin Conflict. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Rae Schuur at St. John Lutheran Church in Rushmore, MN on December 12, 1964. The young couple made their home in Boyden, where August worked on Road Maintenance in Sioux County for 38 years, before retiring in 2007. August and Carolyn had just moved to Brooklyn Park, MN to be near their children. He passed away on September 12, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN, reaching the age of 77 years, 9 months and 17 days.
August was a lifetime member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Boyden, IA, Couples Club, Lutheran Brotherhood, Senior Citizens Card Playing Group, Sunday School Superintendent and William Monster Post 272 of the American Legion of Boyden.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Carolyn; their 4 children, Aaron (Michelle) Woelber of Waterloo, IA; Karla Woelber of Eden Prairie, MN; James (Kim) Woelber of Elk River, MN; Jason (Kim) Woelber of Brooklyn Park, MN; 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, William (Katherine) Woelber of Boyden, IA; Frederick (Wanda) Woelber of Sheldon, IA and Wayne (Nancy) Woelber of Sheldon, IA; brother-in-law, Russell Schuur of Adrian, MN and other relatives and friends.
August was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Ben and Dolores Schuur.
